As part of the Kultursommerfestival, the orchestra known as the Staatskapelle Berlin will bring its concert season to a close in the very unique ambiance of an extraordinary location. The orchestra will play for the first time in the park of Schloss Schönhausen (Schönhausen Palace), the storied former residence of Queen Elisabeth Christine of Prussia. Under the direction of French conductor Alain Altinoglu, the orchestra will play works by Igor Stravinsky, Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel, all of which are characterised by a great tonal richness, immense expressiveness and instrumental virtuosity. In 1908, the young Stravinsky gave audiences a first taste of his unique talent with his orchestral piece »Feu d’artifice«. Two years later, he achieved spectacular success in Paris with his »Firebird«. Maurice Ravel and Claude Debussy also composed for the famous Ballet Russes ensemble in Paris, and all three composers are recognised today as great innovators in the realm of European music.
